The Drawbacks Of Being A “Rush Packer”

“All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go, I’m standing here outside your door,
I hate to wake you up to say good-bye.”

– John Denver, “Leaving On A Jetplane

There are basically three types of travelers.

One are those who packed their luggages weeks or months ahead of their trips. These are whom I called the “Excited Packers”. After planning their trips, they started packing their bags and check it on a daily basis. They usually have notebooks to list down their “things to bring” and add more if they think they needed something else.

The second one are what I called the “Optimal Packers”. They usually start packing their bags few days before their trip. They already know what to bring, thus they are the most dependable travel buddies.

And the last one are those who packed their things the night before or just few hours from their departure. I called them Rush Packers. Though they are time-efficient, they usually forget a thing or two from their “things to bring” list (and most of the time, they don’t have lists and they are just packing based on their instinct, lol!). And this is definitely where I belong.

Luggage
Ready to go.
As a “rush packer“, there are already two instances that I forgot something and I just noticed it when I’m already at the airport. Although I have somehow solved these problems, it is really advisable not to forget these things. I ended up wasting my money and disturbing other people.

1. Destination: Philadelphia, PA, USA

Things I forgot: All my chargers (phone, camera’s battery)

Solution: I bought the phone charger at the airport. I ordered the charger for my camera thru Amazon.com delivered to the place where I stayed.

2. Destination: San Francisco, CA, USA

Things I forgot: My wallet (with my money, cards)

Solution: I asked a friend to follow me to the airport and bring my wallet.

In spite of these unfortunate instances, I am still up to now a “Rush Packer”. My adrenalines don’t allow me to pack my things in an earlier time. And yes, I am just starting to fix my things today, 4 hours from my flight schedule. Well, as long as I didn’t forget my passport, my wallet (with money and cards) and my phone, I think I will be ok. I hope so.
