Philadelphia is famous for its Philly Cheese Steak, but it was not the only one we enjoyed during our stay. For three nights, we had different tastes of gastronomic fun. I think we had our dinner at three of the best restaurants in Philadelphia.
El Vez
Named after the Mexican Elvis Presley, El Vez is one of Philly’s best Mexican restaurants. The ambiance is funky, sophisticated, and festive. The food brought back memories of my travels in Mexico. The salsa sampler and the taco-tasting platter are a must.
Osteria
Osteria is one of the best pizzerias I have visited. It features traditional Italian menu items like thin-crust pizzas cooked in a wood-fired stone oven. I recommended this place to my colleagues. Their signature pizza, Parma, is said to be the best pizza in the state of Pennsylvania. This staple takes pride in its mix of mozzarella, fontina, salty prosciutto, and lightly dressed peppery arugula.
Monk’s Cafe
Monk’s Cafe is the soul of Belgium in the heart of Philadelphia. Belgian beer and mussels best describe this place. The mussels are cooked with different flavors. That night, we ordered Thai Curry mussels, Brussels mussels, and Monk’s mussels to satisfy our stomachs. It’s a nice place to hang out with old friends and talk over a Belgian beer.
Traveling to wonderful places is fun, but eating good food is an added great experience. My stomach really had fun during our stay in Philly.
And, of course, my Philly food trip would not have been finished without the Philly Cheese Steak.
