Kabira Bay is one of the main sightseeing spots in Ishigaki Island.Having known from the internet that Kabira Bay is probably the most photographed sightseeing spot on Ishigaki island, I expected the place to be a little crowded. But when I arrived there by bus, i was surprised that there were very few tourists. This must be because of the bad weather on that day. It was raining and a little windy.
Kabira Bay has a turquoise green water.Kabira Bay’s emerald green water is beautiful and beyond expectations. The bay is located at the north west coast of Ishigaki Island and a part of the Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park.
Emerald green and white sand are the colors of Kabira Bay.I went to Kabira Bay on the day that I arrived in Ishigaki Island. It was my first destination of my 3 day trip in the island.
Docked boats at the Kabira Bay.There were very few people looking at the bay from the main entrance. They were there just to take a glimpse and photos for souvenir. People are not allowed to swim in Kabira Bay because of the strong currents and the dangerous jellyfishes. There were several boats docked at bay which are used routinely for tourists to see the corals from its glass floor. I wanted to try it but they were closed at that time due to the weather.
There is a long stretch of beach with no tourists in Kabira Bay.I decided to walk further. The view is quite impressive. The blue sky, the white sand and the emerald green water are just what my eyes needed to relax.
Alone in Kabira Bay.After walking along the long stretch of the beach, I realized that I was already alone. There were no other tourists on this side of Kabira Bay. The amazing view was just for me and for my eyes only to feast at that exact time.
Drift wood at the beach. Peek-a-boo of Kabira Bay.It was a nice walk along the beach. It was like a scene in the movie “Life of Pi” or “Cast Away” where I ended up in this island after being stranded in the vast sea.
Snails Small boat Hermit crabs Dead fish Green algae along the coast of Kabira Bay.The wind was getting stronger, the rain was becoming more and more frequent. And the tide was getting higher, I decided to leave the beach.
A shrine nearby at Kabira BayHowever, the bus will arrive after an hour. I went to a restaurant first to eat a lovely, early dinner. I ordered cold green noodles prepared in a shell, the color I think was inspired by the Kabira Bay’s viridescent hue. The noodles were colored green by spinach and the longevity herb choumei gusa. The good food is a great tandem for the amazing view that Kabira Bay offered.
