Aoshima is a small island measuring 1.5 kilometer in diameter and a surface area of 4.4 hectares. There are more than 200 varieties of subtropical plants fluorishing on the island, particularly the 5000 palm trees with some of which are 350 years old. It was assigned as one of Japan’s National Special Natural Monuments.
