It’s Easter Sunday!
For today, I will just talk about what I did this past holy week. I haven’t done any wandering and I was just stuck at the laboratory doing experiments. But if I was in the Philippines at this time of the year, I should have already spending it with my family doing activities in observance of the lenten season.

Holy Week is actually the second most important Christian holiday in the Philippines, next to the months-long Christmas celebration. Most people in my country are Catholics. In contrast, here in Japan, most of the people are free-thinkers. So it’s expected that there’s nothing here that will remind me of Holy Week.

I organized the station of the cross activity we had last Good Friday with my fellow Catholic foreigners. Without my efforts, we couldn’t do anything to celebrate Holy Week here. We had to organize it ourselves.

This is when I actually miss the Philippines. I miss going to different beautiful churches on Good Fridays. I miss the long processions. These occur during the meeting of the resurrected Christ with the Virgin Mary. This happens at midnight on Easter Sundays.

And after Christ, who can save the world? Of course, Superman… and Batman, lol. I had a chance to see it yesterday and it was not as awesome as I expected. Although I am a Marvel fan and not DC’s, I was excited to watch the movie. There are so many dream sequences, some of which are unexplainable. Batman held a grudge against Superman. This was because Superman destroyed one of his buildings during his fight with Zod in the “Man of Steel” movie. And then, Batman forgave Superman because their mothers share the same name, lol. And why the hell Lex Luthor was so angry with Superman? If he has created Doomsday, why would he want the two caped superheroes to fight to the death?
The film introduced Wonder Woman. It also included short appearances of the Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. These appearances prepared them for the Justice League movie. This approach is akin to what Disney-Marvel has been doing. So many TV series and movies are being produced in this genre. It feels like we’re overwhelmed with superheroes. I am not against it, but I think it should be done in moderation. Otherwise, it will reach its saturation point among audiences.
Well, anyway, my soul will wander again a few weeks from now. But for today, I will look for Easter eggs.
