The Takino Suzuran Hillside Park is a national government park in Sapporo, Hokkaido and the only national park in Hokkaido. The park is massive a it covers 396.7 hectares of hilly land. The park is popular in spring and autumn for the flower garden, large playground and waterfalls; and in winter for different outdoor activities.

The most prominent picture spots in the park is the flower garden which spreads across the hill. I went there twice in two different year and different seasons to see the tulips in the spring and the cosmos in autumn.

From late May to early June, about 250,000 colorful tulips are in full bloom during the Tulip Suzuran Festival. The park is one of the 2 major places famous for tulips in Hokkaido together with Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park. The tulips were planted in the Hana-no-Makiba of the Central Zone, and the visitors have to enter the entrance of the Keiryu Zone.

Takino Suzuran Park is still a place for flower lovers in autumn as a total of 60 varieties and 200,000 cosmos will blossom from early September. The park will be adorned with white, yellow, pink and violet cosmos in the autumn months.
