Pasig Cathedral

Pasig Cathedral during the MECQ implemented against the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s been a long while since I have written a blog. We still have the COVID-19 pandemic for more than one year now and it has killed a lot of people. A modified enhanced community quarantine or MECQ has been implemented again and again due to the surges in COVID-19 cases. I have been vaccinated for my first dose of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine last March and waiting for my second dose in June.

Inside the Pasig Cathedral, attendees of the mass must follow strict rules on social distancing.

So finally, I have decided to attend a mass in a church personally. I chose Pasig Cathedral or Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish, one of the oldest structures in Pasig City being founded in 1573 by the Augustinian missionaries. The church has historical importance as it served as the British military headquarters during the brief British occupation of Manila in 1762 to 1764. The British used the church’s belfry as a watchtower against the Spanish defenders. The parish was elevated into a cathedral in 2003.
