Igorot Stone Kingdom

On Good Friday, we made the choice to explore the recently established tourist attraction in Baguio known as the Igorot Stone Kingdom. Spanning over 6 hectares, this remarkable theme park is inspired by the ancient Sab-angan legend, which narrates the tale of a kingdom lost a millennium ago. The visionary behind this captivating endeavor is Pio Velasco, who successfully unveiled the park to the public in May 2021. Pio’s inspiration to construct this stone kingdom stemmed from an intriguing encounter with a white carabao in 2020, which he interpreted as a compelling sign to embark on the creation of this monumental structure.

Located in Pinsao Proper Village along Long-Long Road, the Igorot Stone Kingdom impressively displays the exceptional stone masonry skills of the Cordillerans. Resembling a traditional riprap, the kingdom incorporates towering trees and structures reminiscent of the iconic rice terraces.

Alongside the white carabao monument, the stone kingdom boasts an intricate arrangement of medieval-themed stones, surrounded by a maze-like pathway, all presided over by a castle-like edifice. Within this captivating realm, visitors can explore various attractions, including a bridge, an Igorot gold mine, towers portraying the legendary Igorot warriors Gatan and Bangan, as well as a distinguished Kabunyan tower dedicated to the revered Igorot deity.

Upon our arrival, the stone kingdom was bustling with a large crowd of visitors. Tourists were required to pay an entrance fee of 100 pesos. In my opinion, the park can be quite expensive, particularly for group visits, considering the limited array of activities and attractions available within.
