It’s holy week again and fortunately, unlike the previous 2 years of the pandemic, people can now move to different places here in the Philippines. So, we decided to go to Baguio City, the summer capital of the country.
Although we arrived late due to some car engine problems, we visited at least seven churches for the Visita Iglesia. It was 2019 when I had my last Visita Iglesia, without the pandemic.

1. Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral
Our first church is the most famous church in Baguio, Our Lady of Atonement Cathedral or Baguio Cathedral. This beautiful church with a distinctive pink exterior, twin spores and stained glass windows stands majestically atop Mount Mary Hill. It was built and consecrated in 1936 and historically, it served as an evacuation center during World War 2.

2. Our Lady of Lourdes Parish
Our next stop is the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish located along Kisad Road. This church was just built and inaugurated in 2003.

3. Pink Sisters Convent
Located at the corner of Leonard Wood Road, our destination is the Pink Sisters’ Convent. It was already dark when we arrived there. The pink-tinged convent is home to the “Pink Sisters” formally known as the Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration. This religious institute of contemplative cloistered nuns was founded in Holland by Saint Arnold Jannsen and Mother Mary Michaele. They are called “Pink Sisters” because of the rose-colored habits the nuns are wearing to symbolize their joy for the Holy Spirit.

4. St. Joseph the Worker Church
Located on Pacdal Road, a couple of meters away from Botanical Garden and Wright Park, our next stop was the St. Joseph the Worker Church. It is one of the favorite churches for weddings as exemplified by the well-publicized wedding there of the Filipino celebrity couple Aga Muhlach and Charlene Muhlach in 2001.

5. Immaculate Conception Parish
Our fifth church, Immaculate Conception Parish is a church located in P. Ledesma St., Aurora Hill, Baguio City.

6. St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parish
St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parish is a church inside the compound of Saint Louis University. We almost got lost looking for it.

7. St. Vincent Ferrer Parish
Our last and 7th church is the Saint Vincent Parish located along Naguilian Road. It is a tall church protruding from the city’s beautiful skyline.
