
The St. Francis of Assisi church in Mandaluyong has been an integral part of the local community for more than 65 years, showcasing its remarkable beauty. Established in 1958, the church was entrusted to the Order of Capuchin Friars Minor, commonly known as the Franciscan Capuchins, who adhere to the rigorous principles established by St. Francis of Assisi. Consequently, the church located in Ortigas, a Capuchin’s church, is devoted to the patronage of St. Francis.

The church takes its name from St. Francis of Assisi, who is renowned as the patron saint of animals and the environment. It serves as a sacred space where people gather for worship, community engagement, and personal spiritual development. St. Francis is recognized for his devoted service to the impoverished and marginalized, his deep reverence for nature and animals, and his establishment of the Franciscan order.

At the entrance of the church, there is a stained-glass portrayal of St. Francis, while inside the altar, a statue depicts St. Francis positioned alongside the crucified figure of Jesus.
