While looking for a place to have our dinner in Tacloban City, my attention was captivated by a particular coffeeshop. What caught my eye was a mural adorning the wall, featuring a girl whom I presumed to be Amilia, given that the café itself is named She’s Amilia Cafe.

As stated on its Facebook page, the coffeeshop draws inspiration from the owners’ daughter, Amilia, who was born with Down Syndrome. Consequently, the establishment is dedicated to fostering inclusivity and support for individuals with disabilities.

The following day, we paid a visit to the cafe, which exuded a delightful atmosphere complemented by whimsical decorations. I decided to indulge myself with a refreshing iced caramel macchiato alongside a delectable slice of brazo de mercedes. Undoubtedly, it proved to be the perfect haven for unwinding and finding solace after a demanding day.
