The Fate of the Floating Mosque of Palu

The Floating Mosque of Palu, also called Arqam Babu Rahman Mosque, serves as a prominent symbol of Palu and is situated along the shores of Palu Bay, near to Talise Beach. The city of Palu and its neighboring areas experienced a devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami on September 28, 2018. Unfortunately, the mosque was not exempt from the destructive impact of the tsunami. The force of the tsunami caused the pillars of the floating mosque to collapse and a portion of the mosque building submerged into the sea.
