The Floating Mosque of Palu, also called Arqam Babu Rahman Mosque, serves as a prominent symbol of Palu and is situated along the shores of Palu Bay, near to Talise Beach. Constructed in 2011, this mosque stands as a tribute to Sheikh Abdullah Raqi, also known as Datuk Karama. He was a revered Minangkabau scholar who played a crucial role in introducing Islam to Palu, Central Sulawesi, during the 17th century AD.

The city of Palu and its neighboring areas experienced a devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami on September 28, 2018. Unfortunately, the mosque was not exempt from the destructive impact of the tsunami. The force of the tsunami caused the pillars of the floating mosque to collapse and a portion of the mosque building submerged into the sea.
