Brunei Maritime Museum

Inside the main hall of the Brunei Maritime Museum

The Brunei Maritime Museum is located near our hotel in Kota Batu. Initially, we attempted to walk there, but unfortunately, we were unable to enter the museum as they couldn’t provide change for our money. However, on our second attempt two days later, we were able to successfully enter the museum.

The museum highlights the remarkable collection of artifacts discovered approximately 60 kilometers from Brunei’s coast in 1997, known as the ‘Brunei Shipwreck.’ This 500-year-old assemblage includes foreign ceramics from the 15th and 16th centuries, offering insight into the historic maritime trade between Brunei and China.
