The Holy Relic of St. John Baptist De La Salle

It was the first-class relic from the right arm bone of Saint John Baptist De La Salle, founder of the De La Salle Brothers. He founded the Institute of Brothers of the Christian Schools and opened the doors of teaching for lay persons as he pioneered teacher-trainings for non-clergymen. He was canonized in 1900, and was later on declared as the Patron Saint of Christian teachers in 1950.

The #HappySunday Project

It was October 20, 2019 when I decided to start my #HappySunday project. I aim to visit a different Catholic church every week. It is like my “Visita Iglesia” in Holy Week but on a larger scale.

2010-2019 is a Decade to Beat

The last decade, I can say, was the best one of my life. It was a decade of so many first times: from getting my PhD degree to traveling to a lot of countries. As the new decade starts, here is the rundown of the milestones in my life from 2010 to 2019.

Nuestra Señora de Gracia Church of Makati

The Nuestra Señora de Gracia Church, also known as Guadalupe Church is an authentic Renaissance-Baroque church considered as one of the most popular wedding churches in Metro Manila. Starry Starry Night: Van Gogh Alive in Manila

An Australian company, Grande Exhibitions, has paid a tribute to the painter Vincent van Gogh by creating Van Gogh Alive, a multi-sensory exhibit on his life and works. The exhibit ran in Manila from October 26 to December 8 at One Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. The exhibit wants us to interpret the thoughts, feelings and mental state of van Gogh during his time in his homeland Netherlands, Paris, Arles, Saint Rémy and Auvers-sur-Oise, the locations where he created many of his timeless masterpieces.

The Man Who Made Timeless Filipino Christmas Songs

It was the launch of Christmas 2019 celebration at the University of the Philippines Manila with the lighting of the Christmas Tree in front of the Philippine General Hospital. And who else should be there to launch it but the man whose song ushers in the Pinoy Christmas season in September. Jose Mari Chan called himself the “Little Drummer Boy” who heralds the coming of the season as his name is practically synonymous with the start of the Filipino Christmas season.

San Agustin Museum together with the different Marian shrines and parishes in the Philippines have brought up a Marian exhibit called “Regina Caeli”. The exhibit showcased 30 of these pontifically crowned Marian images in the Philippines, aiming to show that the country is “Pueblo Amante de Maria” or a people in love with Mary.

The Fries That Almost Killed Me

I started to eat some and then suddenly when I breathe, a fries went into my trachea accidentally. It has blocked my airway and I was struggling to breathe. I can feel that I will soon be unconscious as my brain will be deprived with oxygen. So I forced myself to cough more and harder to get it out of my air passage. Success! I can breathe again.

Visita Iglesia 2019: Churches of Cavite

It was Holy Week again and it has been my duty to do Visita Iglesia every Maundy Thurday. So this time, I and my sister chose to visit the churches in Cavite. Cavite has been called Tierra de Maria Santisima (Land of the Most Holy Mary) in the last quarter of the 16th century because of the 10 venerated images of the Virgin Mary located in Cavite’s century-old churches.
