Eating Peking Duck In BeiJing
The history of Quanjude dates back to 1864, during the Qing dynasty, when a man named Yang Quanren opened a small shop in Beijing that sold roasted duck. Quanjude’s heritage of roast duck preparation – using open ovens and non-smoky hardwood fuel such as Chinese date, peach, or pear to add a subtle fruity flavor with a golden crisp to the skin – was originally reserved for the imperial families. Over time, the shop became more and more popular, and eventually grew into a full-fledged restaurant. Today, Quanjude has several locations throughout Beijing, and is known for its high-quality ingredients, expert preparation, and impeccable service.
McDonald’s Japan
In 1971, a businessman named Den Fujita opened the very first McDonald’s outlet in Japan, in Tokyo’s fashionable Ginza district. Over the years, the burger chain grew to more than 3,000 outlets nationwide and became one of the most recognized and trusted brands among Japanese consumers.
Hill Billy Burger In Obihiro
All of us ordered the shop’s signature hillbilly burger which is consists of hamburger buns with chopped onions and celery, a slice of tomato and a pork patty in barbeque sauce and melted cheddar cheese. What I like about their burgers are the juiciness of the meat unlike the ones being served in the more famous burger joint here. More important than the the irrational Hawaiian theme of the shop is the highly recommended delicious taste of the burger that Hill Billy is offering.
Foodtrip At The Kokusai Dori Street
During my more than a week visit in Okinawa, Kokusai Dori (International Road) has been my favorite place. It’s a 2 kilometer stretch in downtown Naha filled with bars, restaurants and different types of shops. Having been developed from a dirt path through a swampy fields, it is also called the “Miracle Mile” representing the quick revival of Okinawa after World War 2.
Chicken Nanban Of Ogura Honten
Chicken nanban is Miyazaki’s signature dish. Originally made in the 1960’s, the dish is consists of a deep-fried chicken smothered in a dressing made from mixing vinegar and tartare sauce. And the best place to have this Miyazaki dish is Ogura Honten, where it was invented half a century ago.
The Amazing SAMA Soup Curry
The soup curry is Hokkaido’s take on the Indian and Thai curry which originated in Sapporo. There are several shops in Obihiro and Sapporo offering this mouth-watering meal. And after eating in different shops here in Hokkaido, my palate definitely belongs to the SAMA Soup Curry shop.

Foodtrip In Philly
Philadelphia is famous for its Philly Cheese Steak, but it was not the only one we enjoyed during our stay in Philly. For 3 nights, we had different tastes of gastronomic fun. I think we had our dinner at 3 of the best restaurants in Philadelphia.
Starbucks Pike Place And The Birth Of The Coffee Empire
Seattle is already synonymous with Starbucks coffee, as this is the birthplace of Starbucks! My Japanese professor told me that Seattle’s weather is so gloomy that they invented coffee shops to brighten up the city. I am not so sure about the authenticity of that story but since I was already in Seattle, I knew I needed to visit the first Starbucks store. The Pike Place Starbucks was established in 1971 at the Pike Place Market, downtown Seattle.
Study Tour At The Meiji Tokachi Cheese Plaza
One of the activities of the Tokachi International Relations Center of Obihiro City is sponsoring study tours in various factories here in Tokachi. And this time, it was a trip at Meiji Tokachi Cheese Plaza located in Memuro, a town in the Tokachi subprefecture of Hokkaido. Meiji is the 4th largest confectionary producer in the world.
Euglena For Food
I was surprised when I stumble upon a restaurant called Euglena Garden on my last day in Ishigaki Island. I was looking for a place to eat along a road near a mall called, guess what? Euglena Mall! Formerly known as Ayapani Mall until 2011, this mall is consists of two shopping arcades that run parallel to each other.
