A Glimpse Of Frida Kahlo
La Casa Asul (Blue House) in Coyoacán was where Kahlo spent her lifetime since her birth in 1907. Frida got married to another Mexican art icon Diego Rivera and they lived in the same house from 1929 until Frida died in 1954. Diego eventually died in 1957 and the La Casa Azul has served as Museo Frida Kahlo since 1958.

The Akita Inu (inu is Japanese for dog) is a large breed of dog native from the mountainous northern regions of the Honshu island in Japan, particularly in the Akita prefecture. It was considered as the national dog of Japan and officially declared as a National Monument in 1931. The breed has been widely known because of the most popular Akita Inu, the loyal Hachiko who has his own monument in Tokyo.

Yoko Gushiken is a former Japanese professional boxer who held the WBA Light Flyweight champion title for 6 years (1976 to 1981) and defended it for 13 times. Having a professional record of 23 wins-1 loss with 15 knock-outs, he was known by his nickname “Kanmuriwashi” (Fierce Eagle).
Okinawa And The World War II
During the WWII, the Americans invaded Okinawa via Operation Iceberg to use it as a base for air operations on their planned invasion of mainland Japan. The Battle of Okinawa lasted for 82 days and was known to be one of the bloodiest in the Pacific. Dubbed as “tetsu no ame” (rain of steel), the battle was so ferocious due to the intensity of kamikaze attacks from the Japanese defenders, and to the sheer numbers of Allied ships and armored vehicles that assaulted the island.

World War II has been the most destructive conflict in the history of mankind. The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki remain to be the first and only uses of nuclear weapons in armed conflict, killing between 129,000 and 226,000 people. In Nagasaki, the bomb was dropped on August 9, 1945 at 11:02 a.m., 1,650 feet above the city. Nagasaki was chosen because it was a shipbuilding center at that time. On August 15, the Imperial Japan surrendered, finally ending the Pacific War that lasted for 3 years and 8 months.
Knowing Goethe
I just knew a little about the German writer and politician Johann Wolfgang von Goethe from my literature class in high school. I have just read a part of his most relevant work, Faust. It is a retelling of a classic German legend about a dissatisfied intellectual man who made a pact with the Devil exchanging his soul with unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures.
