Labor Day at La Mesa Dam was calm and unhurried, with steady bird activity along the trail. We noted a juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron near the water, a brief sighting of an White-Breasted Waterhen, and a Black-naped Oriole moving through the canopy, but the morning was defined by two lifers, the Philippine Bulbul and the Asian Koel.
